Synopsis Decazeville is a former mining town in the Aveyron coal basin in France. The closure of the mines and several factories has meant the decline of this place with its glorious working-class past. Director Mathieu Kiefer places his camera in a hairdresser’s salon and bar and a tattoo studio, portraying a vivid and passionate portrait of his hometown.

Director’s bio-filmography Mathieu Kiefer (1985), after an initial training between humanities and social struggles, joined ENSAV cinema school in Toulouse. There he began several co-productions, including J minus how much?, Two traces of elsewhere in place of eyes and Confidence toning, his attempt to establish a balance between formal ambition and craftsmanship. In 2019, he made his first feature-length documentary, Le Grand Ordinaire, broadcasted on Tënk in 2022.
