Synopsis Banzavóis (a word coined by Carlo Emilio Gadda to indicate corn) follows the radical transformation process of the former Isotta Fraschini industrial area in Saronno, 20 kilometres from Milan. A kaleidoscopic journey through the history of a factory abandoned for 30 years, amidst ruins and invasive forest, in which antifascism, the memory of work, and sociopolitical achievements are gradually interwoven with today discontinuation landscape.
Director’s bio-filmography Lorenzo Casali (1980) is a visual artist and filmmaker working mainly in site-specific projects, which start from the analysis of the complex network of relationships, of the cultural, social, political and economic stratifications existing in a given place. He teaches photographic documentation at Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and photography at Accademia Unidee in Biella.
