Inferru

Synopsis Inferru mining area, Sardinia, second half of the 20th century. An old miner, tired and ill, is buried by a cave-in while working in the mine. Suspended in time between life and an imminent death, he describes Inferru in an imaginary existential monologue, mixing past, present, and dark premonitions of what is to come. A mesmerising journey through archive footage and fiction.

Director’s bio-filmography Daniele Atzeni (1973), after graduating in film directing studies at Rome’s NUCT, created documentary films and feature films, dealing with work, social transformations, the recovery of historical memory, biographical portraits. With the mockumentary I morti di Alos (Alos’s dead), competing at the Clermont-Ferrand festival and award-winner of numerous prizes, he has embarked on a path based with the re-use of footage images.
