Synopsis The shipyards are Palermo’s last factory. For more than a century, this creature made of concrete and steel has coexisted with the city, changing its shape, feeding its inhabitants, taking the lives of some of them. In a training school a few blocks from the factory, adults and teenagers study to become welders in the hope of being hired and escaping precariousness.
Directors’ bio-filmography Gianfranco Piazza (Palermo, 1996) and Tito Puglielli (Rome, 1994) study documentary filmmaking at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Palermo where, in addition to Acquasanta, they made, with their classmates, the collective film Sotto lo stesso tempo (2021), which was presented at the Torino Film Festival.
